The summer holidays are well under way, the sun is shining, the is weather getting warmer and Active Superstars’s holiday courses are in full swing.
Active Superstars provide a number of sporting activities for both boys and girls during the summer holidays at a range of different venues. This course, just like all of our holiday courses, had a packed structure of learning that included a variety of multi-sports such as football, dance and arts and crafts. During this weeks holiday camp the children learnt a number of new skills, made a number of new friends and had a lot of fun!
The children were supervised by experienced and qualified sports coaches who reflect the Active Superstars values and are passionate about ensuring children participate in fun and effective activities whilst making them as enjoyable as possible.
Our Own Olympics
As the Olympics had just begun, we thought it would be the perfect summer activity to host our own Olympic games. Children would get the opportunity to compete in both team and individual events, working with new faces and friends to win a medal for their designated country.
However, here at Active Superstars we like to do things with a twist. Our events were both traditional and unique and all children responded very well to them.
A Relay with a Twist
One of the events that our little olympians took part in was our relay race with a twist. The traditional relay race was the basis of this event - where the children would run with a baton before passing it on to their teammate to run their leg of the race. However, we added a little twist. Whilst running the race children would have to bounce a ball on a tennis racket, moving both quickly and steadily trying not to lose their focus.
The Awards
At the end of each week of our summer camps an award ceremony takes place to congratulate those who have shone throughout the week. Children get the opportunity to try their best to achieve the title of “Star of the Day” or ”Star of the Week”. Certificates and prizes are given out as a sign of achievement. Prizes on offer this week ranged from water bottles, skipping ropes, a Active Superstars t shirt and basketballs. The awards ceremony went perfectly, the children got to show off their achievements, the winning team of the Olympics was announced and the atmosphere was just incredible. After the ceremony it was clear that everyone was upset their week at Active Superstars was over, although some children began looking forward to their next Active Superstars holiday course.
