The primary PE and sport premium was introduced in March 2013 to improve the provision of physical education and school sport in primary schools across England. The £150 million per year funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health, and Culture, Media and Sport.
All schools with 17 or more primary-aged pupils between the ages of 5-11 on roll will receive a lump sum of £8,000 plus an additional premium of £5 per pupil. The dedicated primary PE and Sport Premium goes directly to primary school head teachers so that they can decide how best to use it to provide sporting activities for pupils.
