Fruit Basket is this week’s PE Activity of the Week, which focuses on coordination and running.
Active Superstars plan, coordinate and prepare fun, energising games for children to participate in during our sports sessions. We like to be as unique as possible and ensure children have fun whilst working hard and learning new skills. Each week we share our favourite ‘PE Activity of the Week’ to give you an insight into our sessions and provide some inspiration for games of your own.
The Object of the Game:
The object of Fruit Basket is for the children to listen to the name of their group, and change positions with the other named group.
Skills Acquired:
- Thinking Skills
- Listening Skills
- Running
- Coordination
Instructions:
- Divide the children into 4 groups and have them move into each corner of the room
- Give each group a name such as names of fruits e.g. watermelon, raspberry
- Call two of the fruit names, and these groups must run and change places. They maintain the name throughout.
- When you call ‘fruit basket’ all children must run to the centre of the room.
For older children, the names of their group will change into the position that they move into.
