Wednesday 27th September 2017 is National Fitness Day, meaning that all around the country people will be celebrating the benefits of fitness and how it can help people to become happier and healthier.
The goal of the day is to spread the fun of fitness to try and tackle physical inactivity in the UK.
The day was founded in 2011 by the énergie Group, who went on to gift it to ukactive.
Fitness Day is a great way to get active and start a habit that should last a lifetime. Get your friends and family together and do something active today! Here are some ideas how you can get active (even if you only have 5 minutes!):
- Skipping rope
- A trip to the park
- Walk or cycle to or from school
- Walk the dog
- Make chores fun! See how quickly you can do them
- Put some music on and dance around the house
- Scrunch some scrap paper into a ball and play some handball
- Build a den or treehouse
- Fly a kite or play Frisbee
Active Superstars want to get children involved and engaged form a young age, to create healthy habits for life. We do this by working in both schools and communities to inspire children and their families to get active.
In our schools we run structured PE lessons and PPA cover. We also run breakfast clubs and after school clubs which help children to be active outside of school time. Our lunch clubs help children to be active during their lunchtimes, which may inspire them to be active when they finish school and in their own time. This also allows children to participate in sports and get their daily guidance of sports as well as from their PE lessons.
Our Academies allow children to learn new skills outside of school and allows them to make new friends. They will learn new skills that may get them interested in the specific sport, which means we could have a future Olympian on our hands!
