It’s a well-known fact that exercise can relieve stress and make for a happier mind. Although stress is not a large factor in a young child’s life, exercise does help to mould a healthy habit for their future.
Exercise boosts blood flow around the body and to the brain. This increases confidence, better thinking skills and better sleep. Exercise also helps to aid more positive thoughts as it releases brain chemicals that fight stress.
Getting children into sports from a young age can help them to have a routine, and as they grow older they will have knowledge on how exercise can help relieve worries and negative thoughts. Not only this, but increased exercise can produce higher rates of the hormone cortisol, and this can make children have a better response to stressful situations.
How much Exercise?
The government advise that children have at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. This should include moderate activity and vigorous activity. Moderate activity should raise your heart rate and make you sweat. Children should also take part in exercises that build strong muscles and strong bones.
